Titus Launches Webpage to Track Challenges Homeowners Face with Foreclosure Prevention

Henderson, NV – August 4, 2009 – (RealEstateRama) — Congresswoman Dina Titus of Nevada’s Third District announced today a new feature on her website to track the difficulties Nevadans are facing as they navigate housing programs designed to prevent foreclosures.  The new webpage will allow Southern Nevada residents to share the experiences they have in dealing with their lenders as they seek help to stay in their homes. Congresswoman Titus will monitor the progress and problems homeowners are facing.

“I hear every day from constituents who are struggling to stay in their homes,” Congresswoman Titus said.  “Even homeowners who think they qualify for the federal programs designed to help keep them in their homes have found it hard to even connect with someone who can help them refinance or renegotiate their home loan.  By implementing a system to track my constituents’ experiences with their lenders, I can help make sure that those who qualify for help are getting it; and we can shine a light on lenders that have not been responsive to their customers in hopes that they will be encouraged to take action.”

The launch of the webpage coincides with the first monthly Service Performance Report that was released today by the Department of the Treasury.  The report documents the number of struggling homeowners and how many of them have received help under the Making Home Affordable loan modification program on a servicer-by-servicer basis.  For more information from the Treasury Department, click here, and to read the Service Performance Report, click here.

“This is an important issue that I discussed yesterday with HUD Secretary Donovan, and I look forward to sharing the results with him so that we can take the necessary steps to improve foreclosure prevention programs,” Titus added.  “It is important that we know which servicers are doing their part to help Nevada and which servicers are lagging.”

The webpage is the latest step Titus has taken to help constituents during the foreclosure crisis.  Titus has been actively helping homeowners in Southern Nevada, holding housing workshops and assigning staff to assist people who are navigating the process to get assistance that will keep them in their homes.
