Las Vegas Region May Home Sales
Las Vegas-area home sales held at a seven-year high last month as activity above $200,000 continued to rise sharply and buyers used cash to purchase a record 59.6 percent of all homes sold. The median price paid for a home rose above a year earlier for the 14th consecutive month, pushed higher by price appreciation, the shift toward more mid- to high-end deals and the decline of foreclosure resales, a real estate information service reported
Senators Heller, Stabenow Introduce Bipartisan Bill to Eliminate Tax that Hits Underwater Homeowners
U.S. Senators Dean Heller (R-NV) and Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) today introduced the Mortgage Forgiveness Tax Relief Act to ensure that underwater homeowners, those who owe more on their mortgages than their homes are now worth, would not be hit with additional income tax if a portion of their mortgage is forgiven. Without the Stabenow-Heller legislation, homeowners will be required to pay these additional taxes when they refinance or sell their homes in what are commonly called “short sales.”
More Than $660 Million in Abandoned Property Available to Rightful Owners
Carson City - June 5, 2013 - (RealEstateRama) -- State Treasurer Kate Marshall announced today that her office’s Unclaimed Property Division, which is currently holding more than $660 million dollars in abandoned property, will soon be advertising in 18 newspapers (publication schedule included at end of release) across the state the last known names and addresses of people whose abandoned property was reported to the Unclaimed Property Division between January 2012 and May 2013, a total of nearly $73.4 million.
Congresswoman Titus Announces Major Clean Energy Project for Southern Nevada
WASHINGTON, D.C. - June 4, 2013 - (RealEstateRama) -- Today, Congresswoman Dina Titus of Nevada’s First District announced that the Department of the Interior has approved a major clean energy project in Southern Nevada. The Midland Solar Project will be built seven miles southwest of Boulder City. Once completed, the solar power plant will generate enough electricity to power approximately 105,000 homes. The project will create 350 construction jobs and up to 10 permanent jobs
Titus Announces $1.8 Million in Housing Funding for Southern Nevada Veterans
