WASHINGTON – January 14, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — Congressman Joe Heck (NV-03) today voted in favor oF S.J. Res. 22, a resolution disapproving of the of the rule submitted by the Army Corps of Engineers and the Environmental Protection Agency relating to the definition of “waters of the United States” under the Federal Water Pollution Control Act.
After the vote Rep. Heck released the following statement.
“Far from a clarification of a current statute, EPA’s and the Corps of Engineer’s new definition of ‘waters of the United States’ represents yet another federal overreach that threatens our Western way of life. In Nevada, we know that the best stewards of our lands and waters are those who use them and that rules regarding their usage work best if they are crafted at the state level, not by unelected federal bureaucrats 2,500 miles away in Washington, D.C. However, this new definition, which vastly expands federal jurisdiction over waters never before considered part of the ‘waters of the United States,’ was drafted without the input of state officials in Nevada and is yet another example of a power grab by the Obama Administration. In today’s vote I was pleased to again stand with those who oppose federal overreach in the West.”
