REP. TITUS ANNOUNCES $4.6 MILLION IN GRANTS TO FIGHT VETERAN HOMELESSNESS

Washington D.C. – (RealEstateRama) — Representative Dina Titus of Nevada’s First Congressional District and member of the House Committee on Veterans Affairs announced $4,650,743 in grants to fight veteran homelessness in Nevada.

The Department of Veterans Affairs awarded the funds under the Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program. The goal of the SSVF program is to promote housing stability among very low-income veteran families who reside in or are transitioning to permanent housing. The grant is the Department’s fourth renewal of the annual program and has served some 1000 veterans each year.

“We must provide all the support we can to local groups that are working day and night to end veteran homelessness,” Rep. Titus said. “These funds will play a major role to help bring our heroes off the streets and provide a safe place for them to stay as they transition to long-term housing. No one who wore the uniform should lack a roof over his or her head.”

The grantees include: United States Veterans Initiative ($1,243,451), Vietnam Veterans of California Inc. ($1,990,104), HELP Social Service Corporation ($953,850), and The Salvation Army ($463,338).
