City Of Las Vegas To Host Forum On Issues Surrounding Foreclosure

-

Las Vegas, NV – August 30, 2008 – (RealEstateRama) — The city of Las Vegas and Ward 6 Councilman Steven D. Ross will host a neighborhood forum on issues surrounding foreclosure on Thursday, September 4, at 5:30 p.m. at the Centennial Hills Community Center located at Buffalo Drive and Elkhorn Road. The forum will focus on emerging trends and available resources for homeowners associations and community managers facing foreclosures in their communities.

The high rate of foreclosures in Las Vegas has left many homes vacant and vulnerable. The Department of Neighborhood Services has been working with the City Council on several initiatives related to the foreclosure crises, including an information page on the city’s Web site, public service announcements and community forums. The department’s neighborhood planners, along with local non-profits and community leaders, will share tips on maintaining stability when a neighboring property is vacant as a result of foreclosure.

“Ward 6 has been hit particularly hard with the foreclosure crises and we are doing what we can as a city to help protect our neighborhoods,” Councilman Ross said. “This forum will provide options and information to protect neighborhoods.”

Seating for the forum is limited, so residents are urged to contact the city of Las Vegas Neighborhood Services Department at 229-2330 to reserve a seat.

The city of Las Vegas Neighborhood Services Department promotes, develops and supports safe, healthy neighborhoods through partnerships, education and compliance. Residents can visit the city’s Web site to see what services are available at http://www.lasvegasnevada.gov/.
