Governor of Nevada Co-sponsors Event Over the Weekend

LAS VEGAS, NV – March 13, 2012 – (RealEstateRama) — A two-day homeownership event held over the weekend in Las Vegas drew 3,500 Nevada families seeking mortgage assistance. HOPE NOW, Governor Brian Sandoval and more than twenty local organizations hosted the event, which allowed at-risk homeowners the chance to meet face to face with their mortgage servicer or a local non-profit housing counselor.

The event held at the Cashman Center, hosted 1,420 families on Friday and saw 2,019 homeowners come through the doors on Saturday.

Twenty mortgage servicers participated including American Home Mortgage, Aurora, Bank of America, Chase, Citi, Federal Home Loan Bank SF, GMAC, NationStar, Nevada State Bank, Ocwen, One Nevada Credit Union, OneWest Bank, PNC, Select Portfolio Servicing, Seterus , Silver State Credit Union , USAA, US Bank , Weststar Credit Union and Wells Fargo.

This was the fifth time HOPE NOW had sponsored a Las Vegas event since 2008, but the 3,439 attendees over the weekend was the largest event the organization has ever held in the market. HOPE NOW attributes the attendance to efforts by Governor Sandoval and the unprecedented support of dozens of local organizations.

“HOPE NOW greatly appreciates the commitment of its members, the local community and especially Governor Sandoval in executing such a successful event. The months of hard work and detailed planning clearly paid off this past weekend.

Las Vegas, like so many other markets, has been facing an unprecedented housing crisis for the past few years and the ability of so many groups to come together on behalf of at-risk homeowners is truly remarkable.

We hope that the success in Las Vegas serves as a model in our continuing efforts to assist homeowners across the country. HOPE NOW, and its partners, continues to evolve its events so that homeowners get the most out of the experience and walk away with piece of mind. Mortgage servicers and housing counselors continue to work together to perfect the customer experience and educate homeowners on their alternatives to foreclosure,” said Faith Schwartz, Executive Director.

HOPE NOW is the industry-created alliance of mortgage servicers, investors, counselors, and other mortgage market participants, brought together by the Financial Services Roundtable, Housing Policy Council and Mortgage Bankers Association, that has developed and is implementing a coordinated plan to help as many homeowners as possible prevent foreclosure and stay in their homes.
