BLM PROPOSES TO SELL 754.88 ACRES OF PUBLIC LAND IN CLARK COUNTY
LAS VEGAS – (RealEstateRama) — The Bureau of Land Management Las Vegas Field Office is seeking public comments on a proposal to sell 40 parcels totaling 754.88 acres of public land in Clark County, Nevada. The competitive sale would be by sealed and oral bidding in accordance with the Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act (SNPLMA). A Notice of Realty Action published in today’s Federal Register opens a 45-day comment period which will close January 8, 2018.
“This sale promotes responsible and orderly development of the Las Vegas Valley, where there is a growing need for commercial and housing developments,” said BLM Southern Nevada District Manger Tim Smith. “In addition, these public land parcels are relatively isolated and are interspersed with private lands within the area, making them difficult and uneconomic for the BLM to manage.”
In accordance with the SNPLMA, 85 percent of the revenue generated will be used in Nevada for such projects as development of parks, trails, and natural areas; capital improvements on Federal lands; acquisition of environmentally sensitive land; and landscape restoration. Additionally, 5 percent of the revenue will go to the State of Nevada General Education Fund and 10 percent of the revenue will go to the Southern Nevada Water Authority.
Twenty-eight of the parcels are located in the northwest part of the valley near Highway 95 and Interstate 215. Nine are in the southwest part of the valley south of I-215 and west of I-15. Two are in the northeast part of the valley west of I-15 and south of I-215. One is on the north side of I-215 and east of I-15.
The sale parcels will be offered at not less than the appraised fair market value. The sealed bid and oral public auction will be held on January 24, 2018, at City of Henderson Council Chambers, 240 Water Street, Henderson, Nevada 89009 at 10 a.m. Pacific Time. The fair market value for the parcels will be announced in local and online media at least 30 days prior to the sale.
Sealed bids must include a deposit of at least 20 percent of the bid amount and a bid guarantee deposit of $10,000 in the form of a cashier’s check, certified check, or postal money order made payable to the Department of the Interior – Bureau of Land Management.
Written comments about the sale should be mailed to: BLM, Las Vegas Field Office, Assistant Field Manager, 4701 N. Torrey Pines Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89130; or faxed to 702-515-5023.
