City Council To Recognize Builder Of First Homes Certified By The City’s Green Building Program

New Pulte Home Residences Features Energy And Water Efficient Design

Las Vegas, January 15, 2008 – During the ceremonial portion of tomorrow’s City Council meeting at 9 a.m., in council chambers, located at 400 Stewart Ave., the City Council will recognize Pulte Homes for its sustainability efforts. Model homes at the company’s new Timber Creek subdivision have been certified as the first participants in the city’s Green Building Program.

The city’s Green Building Program, the result of a collaborative effort with the Southern Nevada Green Building Partnership, encourages home builders and developers to build innovative green homes and neighborhoods that are more energy efficient, environmentally friendly and sustainable for our community. The city defines sustainability as meeting the needs of the present without compromising the needs of future generations. Nat Hodgson, vice president of construction with Pulte Homes, will be on hand to accept a proclamation from Mayor Oscar B. Goodman.

The City Council will also recognize several special seniors at the meeting. The Senior of the Quarter, Jo Lardie, will be honored for her volunteer work with Catholic Charities as well the Seniors Helping Seniors Program. The council members will also recognize the Dula Center Senior Roundtable, a group of seniors that has been meeting weekly for 20 years to discuss issues facing seniors.

Finally, the City Council will recognize the January employee of the month, Lynn Kerr. Kerr, who has been with the city since 2003, is a caseworker with the Neighborhood Services Department.
