Officials To Celebrate Aldene Kline Barlow Senior Apartments Building Dedication Feb. 12

Las Vegas, NV – February 7, 2013 – (RealEstateRama) — Everyone is invited to join Las Vegas Ward 5 Councilman Ricki Y. Barlow, city officials, and the staff of developer Community Development Programs Center of Nevada (CDPCN) for the Aldene Kline Barlow Senior Apartments building dedication at 1327 H Street. Festivities begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12.
The new three-story apartment building, named by the developer to honor Councilman Barlow’s mother who died at the location in a car accident, is age-restricted and rented to seniors with household incomes less than 80 percent of area median income. Approximately $6,175,000 for construction came from the city of Las Vegas, provided by U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and Redevelopment Affordable Housing Set Aside funds.
“My family and I are deeply moved that mother is being honored and remembered in this way,” Councilman Barlow said. “Like all of us, she cared deeply about our community and the welfare of our seniors. She would be proud that a fine building that will be home to so many carries her name.”
Each of the 39 units in the building is a one- or two-bedroom spacious apartment with ceiling fans, ceramic tile, washer and dryer hookup and a beautiful view of the city. All utilities are included in the rent. A community room for social activities, theater room, computer room, exercise room, and a laundry facility on each floor also are available to residents.
Frank Hawkins, executive director of CDPCN, stated, “Our company, Community Development Programs Center of Nevada, our investors and development partners, the State of Nevada Housing Division, Stearns Bank, H&M Lending Group, U.S. Housing & Urban Development, American International Group, Royal Bank of Canada, and the city of Las Vegas, have spent more than $22 million to purchase the Madison Terrace public housing development, demolish it and build a total of 159 mixed-income, one- and two-bedroom apartment homes for seniors and families.”
The new building is the final phase of a three-phase development at this location. The first phase, the Sarann Knight Apartment Complex, opened in May 2010 with 82 two-bedroom/two-bathroom apartments in a four-story building. The next phase, the Ethel Mae Robinson Senior Apartments, opened in December 2010, with 38 one-bedroom units in seven single-story buildings.
