Udall Discusses Critical Need to Address Youth Suicide in Native Communities

Today, at a hearing of the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs, U.S. Senator Tom Udall discussed the critical need to address the high rate of suicide among Native American youth. He questioned the acting director of the Indian Health Service, Tribal leaders and a Psychological and Developmental Sciences expert about improving desperately needed mental health services.

Reid Announces Co-Sponsorship Of POWER Act

Nevada Senator Harry Reid released the following statement today announcing his co-sponsorship of the Power Efficiency and Resiliency (POWER) Act. The POWER Act, introduced by Senator Susan Collins (R-ME) and Senator Bob Casey (D-PA), aims to increase the adoption of industrial energy efficiency technologies that can dramatically reduce energy costs for Nevada’s businesses.

The Bureau of Land Management Las Vegas Field Office is seeking public comments on a proposal to sell 40 parcels totaling 754.88 acres of public land in Clark County, Nevada. The competitive sale would be by sealed and oral bidding in accordance with the Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act (SNPLMA). A Notice of Realty Action published in today’s Federal Register opens a 45-day comment period which will close January 8, 2018.
