Washington, D.C. – July 2, 2010 – (RealEstateRama) — Congresswoman Dina Titus of Nevada’s Third District applauded the creation of the House Democratic Caucus’ new Task Force on Housing Stabilization, chaired by Representatives Shelley Berkley of Nevada and Dennis Cardoza of California. The task force will examine current efforts to address the foreclosure crisis to determine what more must be done.
“I am pleased to join my colleagues as a founding member of the Democratic Task Force on Housing Stabilization and I look forward to sharing what my office has learned in our efforts to help Nevada families avoid foreclosure,” Congresswoman Titus said. “As ground zero for the housing crisis, District Three has too many homeowners at risk of losing their home. That is why my office was one of the first in the country to stand up and fight on behalf of homeowners who had been ignored by their bank. As a result of these efforts, my staff and I have helped save hundreds of families from foreclosure and put nearly $6.5 million back in the pockets of Southern Nevadans through mortgage modifications. Working with members from other hard hit areas, we will continue to look for solutions to this devastating crisis that has shaken the foundation of our communities.”
The Housing Stabilization Task Force will focus its efforts on foreclosure mitigation, home valuation, lending programs, and real estate market stabilization. By bringing together members who represent districts with high foreclosures, the task force will create a renewed sense of urgency to put an end to the housing crisis.
