Las Vegas City Council Allocates Nearly $6 Million In Federal And State Funds For Affordable Housing

Las Vegas, NV – January 26, 2009 – (RealEstateRama) – The Las Vegas City Council recently approved nearly $6 million in federal and state funds for the development of 108 affordable housing units at four different projects. Affordable housing is a priority for the City Council.

  • Westcliff Pines Senior Apartments – $1.5 million – Phase II of the Silver Sky Assisted Living Facility, located at 8203 and 8238 Silver Sky Drive, includes new construction of an affordable rental apartment building containing 40 one and two-bedroom units, specifically designed for low-income, independent senior citizens. 
  • H Street and Monroe Senior Apartments – $2 million – Located at 1320 H St., the project includes new construction of 39 one and two-bedroom apartment units for low-income seniors.
  • I Street and Monroe Senior Apartments – $2.2 million – Located at 908 W. Monroe Ave., the project includes new construction of 20 one-bedroom apartment units for low-income seniors.
  • Vegas Heights Redevelopment Project – $280,000 – This is for the purchase of seven parcels located in the general area of Martin L. King and Lake Mead boulevards to build nine single-family homes for low-income, working families. HOME funding will purchase the lots, and Habitat for Humanity will provide the funding for the development and construction.
