Learn to avoid foreclosure scams tonight at free Henderson housing event

-

Henderson, NV – April 28, 2010 – (RealEstateRama) — Representatives from Fight Fraud Taskforce and the Nevada Foreclosure Prevention Taskforce will be on site tonight at the City of Henderson’s Foreclosure Prevention Workshop to advise consumers how to avoid foreclosure scams. The free workshop takes place 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Henderson Convention Center, 200 Water Street, in Grand Ballrooms A, B & C.

In the current economic climate, scammers are preying on people who are in danger of having their home foreclosed. Scammers will tell homeowners that they can guarantee to save their homes, or that they have all kinds of “special” deals arranged with lenders. At this event, consumers will be alerted to the ‘red flags’ of foreclosure scams so that they don’t fall for empty promises.

In addition to learning how to avoid foreclosure fraud, Henderson residents will have the opportunity to speak one-on-one with lenders, HUD-certified housing counselors, foreclosure mediators, real estate agents, and federal government representatives.

Homeowners who are unable to attend tonight’s event can learn the warning signs of fraud and receive referrals to HUD-approved non-profit housing counseling agencies by calling toll-free (877) 448-4692 or visiting http://fightfraud.nv.gov and clicking on the “Stop Foreclosure Fraud” stop sign logo.
